Data Science for Social Good 2026-2027 Call for Applications

The Data Driven Discovery Initiative is inviting applications for the 2026–2027 Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) seed grants. These grants are meant to catalyze innovative projects that use data science and AI to address pressing societal challenges, with funding up to $25,000 per project. SAS faculty-led teams are encouraged to apply.

New this year

Projects are encouraged to additionally request direct support from DDDI's Staff Data Scientist, as well as referrals to a pool of talented data science and AI research assistant candidates.

Application materials

Attach the full proposal to your application. Be sure to include:

  • Written proposal (max 2 single-spaced pages) — include a project summary, goals, timeframe, plan for evaluation, and plan for involvement of students and/or DDDI's Staff Data Scientist (with estimated hours per week).
  • Signed letters of support from appropriate partnering organizations
  • CVs from faculty project directors
  • Project budget
