Bio
Carolina is a postdoctoral fellow at PDRI-DevLab at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research explores the political economy of crime and its punishment, with a regional focus on Mexico and Latin America. She conducts predictive, inferential, and descriptive quantitative research using public and original data to investigate how politics, crime, and law enforcement bind each other. Carolina also works on the epistemology of causal research, examining what conclusions can be drawn from diverse research designs. In this work, she employs simulation-based approaches that integrate Bayesian statistics with formalized theoretical frameworks. She earned a Ph.D. in Politics from New York University in 2024.
